I didn't write this

The Associated Press

2:02 p.m. ET July 23, 2005
SHARM EL-SHEIK, Egypt - The early morning attacks, Egypt's deadliest terror hit ever, came just two days after the latest strikes in London and sent an already jittery world reeling again.

Are you reeling? Are you jittery?

I am living in the city where the 9/11 attacks originated and I frequently use public transportation and guess whatÖif Iím scared of anything itís the fucking media and our government.   That has me much more scared then some disaffected malcontents.

All I want to say is

I didn't know when Orwell wrote 1984 it was going to be used as a blueprint.

We can't even blame the United States, or liberals, or republicans, or the New York Times, or Fox News, or CNN.

It was the FUCK FUCK FUCK GOD-DAMNED FUCKING ASSOCIATED PRESS informing me that I was reeling and jittery.

I still have better chances of winning the lottery or being struck by lightening then dying in a terrorist attack.

Guess what?? Shit happens. People die. Drunk-drivers, drunken lovers, disease, old-age. It happens.

And when you're dead, what difference does it make if it was a terrorist or a shopping cart on a windy day.

If its in the Lord's plan that it is a terrorist, so be it. He can have me whenever He wants.

I'm sure in September of 2001 more people died in car accidents then the trade center bombings.

Not to mention the amount of Americans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan is fast approaching the number of people killed on 9/11, but that is a story for another day.

Americans are just so afraid we look the other way when our president lies to get us into war, when we elect oil barons partly responsible for the California Energy Crisis and The Enron Collapse. (remember those?) He can hardy finish a sentence during news conferences. Illegal secret cabinet meetings with the CEO's of Energy Conglomerates and the Secretary of Energy. The Patriot Act eroding our civil liberties.

Fear. It comes in handy.

Fear of Terrorists.   Fear of Homosexuals.   It sure gets votes.   God I hate the world we have created for ourselves.

I know I am coming for a slightly different perspective then my friends that are reading this because I am a born-again Christian.   But I seriously just want to cry.   The same Church used to hail the progressivism and tolerance in the Scandinavian (Socialist and Democratic) countries of my cousins is used for intolerance and steps backwards in my homeland which I am proud of.   (By the way, Finland's current Prime Minister is a woman and Gay Rights Activist.   And it wasn't too long ago the country was like 99% Lutheran Christian).   The same morality of the Bible that results in expansive Social Welfare Programs and even distributions of wealth in Scandinavia somehow results in HATEFUL and XENOPHOBIC proposed Constitutional Amendments across the pond.

My gay friends have been waiting for their ďGay AgendasĒ to arrive in the mail but they havenít come yet.

The Christian Right has nothing to do with Christianity, it is just a vehicle for Republicans to get votes from people that donít earn six-figured salaries.

From St. Augustine to St. Thomas Aquinas to C.S. Lewis to Dostoevsky to Kierkegaard to Martin Luther King Jr. it seems apparent that receiving the Miracle of Grace doesnít necessarily equate to checking oneís brain in at the door.   But looking at all the Christian Americans fooled by empty rhetoric and an irrational, fearmongering media it appears that most have.

I hate the media as much as John Stewart and the Christian Right as much as, well, everybody else.   The problem is I shouldn't be hating at all (or cussing so much for that matter), but these are troubled times and they sure as hell ain't getting any better.

Pulling a Howard Beale and running into the street and yelling ďIím mad as hell and Iím not going to take it anymoreĒ isnít going to help either.   I wish it could.

P.S. Shit Fuck

P.P.S. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.   And fuck.

P.P.P.S. If Americans were half as mad at the media as the terrorists then we'd be getting somewhere.
