RUMOR: Deezies to hire Jones
(Y!SN) -- Multiple sources have told the Yahoo! Sports Network that Adam Jones will be the new coach of the Deezies fa Sheezies.
An official announcement is expected to be made later this week. The two sides have reportedly been in negotiations since Saturday, with Jones' desire to become a player-coach being the main sticking point.
The former "Pacman" Jones is just the latest person rumored to take over the Deezies fa Sheezies head coaching duties. Other names that were reportedly considered include Montreal Francofolies head coach Maurice Richard, former -1 Insightful head coach Steve "Mooch" Mariucci, former Team Bizarro World head coach Coach Laith, former Clay Is Gay head coach White Lightning, and former Deezies fa Sheezies quarterback Steve "Air" McNair.
Jones began his Fantasy Football Fever career in 2006 as a member of Touchdown Burger. After several run-ins with the law, he was suspended from playing during the 2007 season. However, he was hired to coach the Vick's K-9 Kennel Club, leading the team to a 10-3 record and a playoff run that ended with a semifinal loss to the eventual champions, the Tom Wopat Fan Club. Jones was reinstated as a player for the 2008 season and was drafted by White Castle Rules!, but was released two weeks ago.
"I just can't wait and hopefully it can get done," Jones said in April regarding his return to playing. "I'm anxiously waiting. I've been working out three days a week and I've slowed it down a little bit to give my body a rest, so I can make sure I'm not too wore out when camp and the season starts."
Jones would replace Jimmy Smith, who was let go from the team following an arrest last month. Smith himself had replaced C-Deezy fa Sheezy, who mysteriously disappeared last December shortly after a first-round playoff loss to the Stanley Cup Champs.
